President Uhuru Kenyatta was lauded by the United States on Tuesday following his victory in this year’s election, but the super power noted a few issues following the announcement of the presidential results.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced Uhuru won a second term against Raila Odinga.

Despite this NASA leader Raila Odinga, has rubbished the results claiming the electoral commission did not conduct a fair election.

As a result his supporters took to the in Nairobi and Kisumu to protest sparking a immediate response from the government’s law enforcement.

According to reports, a girl aged 10 was one of the victims of this year’s post-election violence after she was shot dead.

There is a fear that protests could lead to a repeat of the 2007-2008 post-election violence.

"We are troubled by reports that some demonstrations have turned violent, and call on all Kenyans to reject violence and resolve disputes in accordance with the Constitution," the White House said as reported by The Star.

On Tuesday, the press secretary of the White House lauded the President Uhuru for his call for peace and unity.
