The United States of America has urged the Kenyan Government to conduct a speedy investigation into the alleged Sh 5.3b Shilling Afya House scandal.

Speaking in a press conference in Kisumu on Thursday, American ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec also said that his government wants all individuals implicated in the scandal to step aside and give room for investigations and those found guilty to face the law.

''America is urging Kenya to conduct an immediate and independent investigation and all those implicated be charged according to the law.''He said further saying that his office too is investigating the matter.

The United States is a key donor to the Ministry .

The Ministry allegedly lost the money to graft according to an exposure by the Nation Media Group through NTV and sister newspaper The Business Daily but the allegations have since been downplayed by the docket Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu and some leaders from the ruling Jubilee coalition who have said that no money has been lost or misappropriated.

The calls to step aside comes after CS Mailu downplayed any possibilities of him resigning or stepping aside from the post even with more pressure coming from non-governmental organizations and the opposition block Cord.

After being grilled by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives at the Integrity Center,he has said that he will continue holding his office awaiting the detectives conclusion.

“I will continue doing my work; I hope all agencies will be able to get to the bottom of the issue and I will wait for the EACC investigations on this issue," he was quoted by the Standard Digital on Thursday.
