U.S Secretary of state John Kerry has said that his government will provide the government with an amount of Sh2.5 billion to help cater for the next general elections scheduled for August 2017.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday after he and his delegation were met by their host President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Nairobi state house, Kerry also said that the United States does not support or prefer any presidential candidate over the others.
He has further said that the government must ensure that the nation has an entrusted electoral body to ensure that the outcomes are fair and prevent the country from sliding back to skirmishes that were witnessed during the 2007 post election violence and carry out good electoral observations.
Kerry has also called upon the President of the Republic of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir and his former Vice D.r Liek Machar to stop the hostility and tension witnessed in the country by discussing a possible solution for the country further announcing that his government will deploy 4000 troops in the region to facilitate peace, and has also donated Sh13.8b to cater for water, food and medical services for the country's displaced persons
