Speaking in his Nakuru town office in on Friday, the Agency’s strategic plans Manager Lucas Gitonga said that the Agency plans to build and equip ten Capacity Building Centres in Nakuru County beginning June this year which will be equipped with field officers and research equipment aimed at decentralising and developing efficiency strategies for the agency.

Gitonga noted that in the past, the Agency’s field officers had been forced to work tirelessly to sell its policies to grassroots populations, a fact that inspired the new plan that will cover all sub-counties in the county.

“What we are aiming at is to bring USAID services and mission closer to Nakuru County people. We believe that by establishing capacity-building centres, most of our projects and programmes will efficiently be performed unlike in the past when we had to struggle to market our plans and programmes to people on grassroots levels.

According to the Strategic Plans Manager, the Agency was already working on procurement plans to purchase land and build the centres in several points in Nakuru East, Nakuru West, Bahati, Njoro, Molo, Naivasha and Gilgil where farmers, Youth Groups, Women Groups, NGO’s, Schools, Universities, Research centres and government agencies will be actively involved in implementing USAID projects and programmes.
