Use of loudspeakers by churches at night in Kikuyu sub-county over this festive season has been banned by the area security detail.
Kiambu County Deputy County Commissioner Paul Famba said the move is to enable security remain alert.
Speaking to this writer in his office today, he said that the use of loudspeakers at night may make it difficult for an officer in patrol to identify any cases of emergency.
“In a case of any distress call at night as Christians enjoy festivity, police can easily respond if there is no use of loudspeakers by churches at night. Worshippers should adhere to our directives so that police can work accordingly,” Famba said.
He also assured residents and worshippers of their security.
“There will be thorough screening by police to ensure that those with evil intentions are nailed,” he said.
Residents have also been urged to report any suspicious people or incidents for police response.
“Security is a responsibility for everyone. I urge all people to remain vigilant and report incidents for police to respond,” said the deputy commissioner.
