Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has lashed out at Cord for using outdated methods to express their dissatisfaction with IEBC saying poor Kenyans who participate in the demonstrations are the losers.
Mbugua said it is anybody’s right to voice their grievances but appropriate processes should be followed to avoid bringing tension or differences that might destabilise the peace of the nation.
Speaking in Sobea, in Rongai sub-county during a prayer meeting organised by the Grace of God Church, Mbugua added that leaders who advocate for the demonstrations have wealth and properties at their disposal, and only use poor Kenyans in pretense of championing their rights.
"It is the youth and the poor Kenyan who lose at the end of the day because instead of going to work they allow themselves to be used. These leaders have already made their money and do not care about others," said Mbugua on Wednesday.
The governor said residents of Nakuru County will not be allowed to be drawn back to ugly scenes witnessed in the past due to lack of peace.
"We have come from far and we can never allow ourselves to witness what we saw then. Church leaders, elders and residents have played a big role to stabilise our county and now we are working towards strengthening the valuable peace we have," he added.
He called on the church to continue holding hands with the government as partners in peace, adding that the county government will always provide the needed support to churches.
Meanwhile, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Gavana Mtaani County Outreach Programme, which he said, has bore fruits as expected.
Mbugua positively noted that a huge number of concerns and queries brought up by the residents during the outreaches have been dealt with.
"This prayer meeting was as a result of our interaction when we visited Njoro sub-county. I am happy to see that some issues were addressed immediately while others are still being dealt with. The idea of reaching out to mwananchi at the grassroots has bore fruits."
The governor was accompanied by his deputy Joseph Ruto and Nakuru County Assembly Majority Leader and Mosop ward MCA Njenga Mwaura.
