Kisumu City manager has asked the area residents to use the right channels to air their grievances against the county government.
Speaking in Kisumu County on Sunday during the launch of a bodaboda Sacco, Doris Ombara urged the resident to avoid rushing to the media whenever they are faced with any challenges.
“Many people have the habit of contacting the media first in case of any problem as if the media will solve their issues. We have open channels that can be used in reaching us, such as suggestion and complaint boxes,” said Ombara.
Ombara said that the media should be the last solution in case the county government fails to act on the issues within the right time.
She also faulted the media on how it handles complains from the public.
“Whenever they receive complains, some don’t even bother to clarify with our office. They just go ahead and publish the stories. This misleads the public and give the people a notion that we are not working as required,” said Ombara.
She added that the county government has set up many avenues of getting information from the people, and their offices are always open to everybody.
