The youth in Uasin Gishu county have been challenged to carefully craft their futures.
County governor Jackson Mandago and his deputy Daniel Chemno have further pledged to put in place initiatives that will help empower the youth.
Speaking during a youth concert and motivational day at Cheramei grounds, Turbo sub-county, Mandago advised them to use the online platform to research and undertake constructive programs instead of spending their efforts on controversial groups.
"Most of the youth today spend a lot of their time on social media platforms engaging in unconstructive things and it's time that changes for a better use of the internet," said the governor.
He also acknowledged that the young generation face a lot of challenges that needs to be addressed.
The youth of the day need to be talked to. There are several challenges they face and which may sway them to deviate from (the) right path," he noted.
The Deputy governor on his part asked the youth to identify and build their talents.
"Each one of us has a special gift. It is our responsibility as youth to build it through practise," Chemno said.
