Speaking during a social media workshop held at Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) Nakuru, Purity Kavuri, Nakuru Library Chief Librarian said most Kenyans are using social media hence need to use it to address challenges affecting them.

Kavuri observed that use of social media has so far helped to address and create awareness on some topical issues.

“We need to start social media platforms on security issues where we as residents can be sharing information with the relevant security,” said Kavuri.

It is worth noting that Kenyans are very active in the use of social media platforms hence need to start using it positively.

“I am urging security organs in the government to consider using social media in the fight against crime,” said Kavuri.

She noted people around the world have been using social media as a symbol of unity and a tool for education, entertainment among others.
