Youths in Kisii County have been urged to use social media to improve their lifestyles.
According to Kisii County minister for Sports and Culture Duke Mainga, several youths across the County are using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to insult abuse and spread proganda about leaders.
“Several youths have been arrested for misusing social media. I wish to urge the youths to use social media sites to market their products and sell good agendas about education for the sake of building their lives,” he said.
Mainga said leaders will not be dragged into scandals by social media hate mongers as police watch.
“Police will arrest anyone spreading hatred, inciting Kenyans to fight because no one is above the law,” he noted.
He added that social media users who will be found guilty will not be bailed out from police cells as it has happened in the past.
"We have witnessed a number of social media users who are misusing the sites being bailed out by leaders. Next time anyone found misusing social media will have to carry his or her own cross since the law will not spare anyone,” he stated.
