Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamoko has called on youth to shun misusing social media, even as the 2017 election campaigns draw nigh.
Speaking to journalists in his office on Tuesday, Nyamoko accused a section of youth who use the platform to abuse leaders and urged them to shun the vice.
"It's very wrong for our youth to go on posting and writing rubbish on anything even without having an idea of a certain issue," said Nyamoko.
He added that criticisms are welcomed but they should not be used as an avenue abuse to leaders who he said are trying hard to work together for the benefit of the community.
"We are working towards developing our Gusii community and you realise there are a few individuals who are enemies of development and they get their way by posting anything on social media," added the speaker.
Recently, pictures of Nyamoko leading a delegation of Nyamira leaders to the launch of the Jubilee Party in Nairobi went viral with a section of social media users making fun of them.
