President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to use the national Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) committee to compensate Gusii region IDPs.
According to Gusii IDPs chairman Alfred Akama, there are some bogus IDPs who want to benefit from the compensation leaving behind the real IDPs and said there is a need for the national IDPs committee to be used to compensate them.
Addressing journalist in Kisii town, Akama asked for the compensation to be done early so that the can get IDPs get a place to live instead of suffering in various parts of Gusii region.
“Gusii IDPs have never been compensated like other IDPs in various parts of the country because we have bogus and real IDPs in Gusii, we call on president Kenyatta to use the national IDPs committee in the compensation exercise for transparency,” said Alfred Akama.
Akama asked for a serious action to be taken for bogus IDPs who want to benefit from others.
When President Kenyatta visited Gusii region over the last one month he promised that his government was to compensate Gusii IDPs a promise that is still waited for.
