Youth and women beneficiaries of the Uwezo funds in Nakuru East constituency have been urged to prudently utilise the funds by investing in profitable projects to improve their lives.
Area MP David Gikaria said the funds attract zero interest but cautioned the recipients from misusing the money.
"This money is meant to benefit the youth, women and people with disabilities and uplift their living standards, but if they engage in misappropriation of the same then they will be held responsible for it," said Gikaria.
He also asked the youth leaders in the region to sensitise their colleagues about the kitty so as to enable them benefit during the next disbursing of the funds.
The legislator challenged the groups that benefited to stick to the proposals and plans of their projects and not to change it once they receive the funds.
"Let each group stick to its initial plans and use the funds appropriately so that they can realise their dreams because we have funded the groups according to their planned projects strengths," he said, adding that the pool will benefit women and youth if they remain focused.
He also advised those who did not benefit to keep on asking for the funds so that they can also benefit from the second batch.
Gikaria issued Uwezo funds cheques to women and youth groups amounting to Sh6 million.
The MP said the next disbursement will be increased to Sh9 million.
