A media orgnisation dealing with women and gender issues has challenged women in Kisii County Assembly to ensure they generate women friendly bills.
The Association of Media Women In Kenya (AMWIK) urged women in the county assembly to use their numerical strength to ensure such Bills have been passed for the benefit of the grassroots women.
AMWIK Senior Programmes Officer, Lilian Juma challenged women MCAs from Kisii County to re-energize their contributions on the floor of the county assembly to enhance their performance and service delivery to to the electorates.
Speaking in Kisii town after meeting section of women MCAs from the county at a Kisii hotel, Juma reminded that their presence in the county assembly is crucial.
“You are the spokeperson of the grassroots women and the vulnerable. You need to push the agenda which will help to liberate girl child from the challenges facing her,” said Juma.
"For a long time in the country's political history women have been crying for leadership representation and now they are represented in decision making places,” notes Juma.
