Beneficiaries of the Uwezo and Biashara Funds in Kiambu have been asked to use the money wisely.
Speaking when he addressed youths at Thika Town on Thursday, County Youths Affairs executive member Machel Waikenda asked the beneficiaries to make sure that they use the funds for the intended purposes.
He said the county government has disbursed development funds to over 6000 youths, women and persons with disabilities.
Waikenda said the funds are meant specifically for development and nothing else.
He said beneficiaries are being monitored and advised on how to utilise the funds.
“Beneficiaries of Uwezo and Biashara Funds must make sure that they spend the money on the right projects,” he said.
Waikenda who issued cheques worth Sh20,000 to youth groups said the county government is working on increasing the allocation to both the Uwezo and Biashara Fund.
He said the number of applications has increased hence the need to increase the funds so that more people can benefit.
The Kiambu youth executive also said the county government will start other development projects meant to empower young people.
He said the government wants to engage youth in development projects so as to enhance development in the country.
Waikenda also said the county government has started sports tournaments aimed at tapping youth talents in the county.
