Rarieda Sub County Uwezo Fund Management Committee has disbursed cheques worth Sh 14 million to 168 women, youth and persons with disabilities.
The money is meant to boost the beneficiaries’ socio-economic well-being.
Speaking while presiding over the disbursement of the cheques at Rarieda CDF offices in Aram, area MP Nicholas Gumbo explained that the constituency received more than Sh 17 million from the Uwezo Fund kitty of which they have now disbursed Sh 14 million to 168 groups. These groups had applied hence the remaining Sh 4 million will be disbursed later to other groups.
He said that it was time for Rarieda residents to take advantage of the available infrastructure to work with Uwezo fund they now have at hand to develop and grow economically.
Gumbo however challenged the beneficiaries to ensure they make good use of the fund and pay promptly so that they can get more allocations.
He assured that he will personally add Sh 10,000 to those groups that will have doubled their loans and 20,000 to those who will have tripled theirs.
Speaking at the same function, Siaya County Women representative who also doubles up as the County Uwezo Fund patron assured that the revolving fund is there to stay hence encouraged those who had not applied to make an effort of applying next year.
She encouraged the society to consider applying for other government loans such as Women Enterprise Fund and Youth Enterprise Fund which are revolving funds without interest since they are meant to eradicate poverty among the youth, women and persons with disabilities.
The occasion was also attended by county MCAs and sub county Uwezo fund chair persons among others.
