Thika residents are set to benefit from Uwezo Funds on Monday next week.
This is after the meeting aborted on Friday last week when area Member of Parliament was involved in the fight against illicit brews in the area.
The legislator, Alice Ng'ang'a, had commenced the meeting when she was allegedly notified of a famous brewing den in Kiandutu that the police had highlighted to kick-start with hence she left the meeting and rushed to Kiandutu.
According to the CDF Chairman Ephraim Njihia, the MP has rescheduled the disbursement to next week. He said that residents have been flocking his office this week asking about the same.
Njihia said that over 103 youth and women groups are scheduled to benefit from the kitty and they have set aside Sh6.8 million for disbursement.
He added, “We were unable to give each group the amount they had suggested in the applications due to the increased applications. We expect every group that qualifies to utilise the little we have set aside for them,” Njihia said.
Njihia was speaking in Thika Town on Thursday.
