The council of governors have threatened to advertise vacant positions if the doctors fail to return to work.
The governors directed striking doctors to resume duty by Wednesday, failure to which they will lose their jobs.
The threat comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta offered the doctors a 40 per cent pay rise, but the offer got rejected by the doctors, saying they will only go back to work if the 300 per cent CBA pay rise signed in 2013 between the government and the doctors is honored.
Chairman of the council of governors Peter Munya said all the vacant positions will be advertised and fresh doctors recruited to restore services in public hospitals if the doctors fail to return up for work.
“The Sh4 billion offer made by the president is reasonable and it is unfortunate the doctors rejected it,” said Munya, who was in the company of the cabinet secretary for heath Cleopa Mailu.
Munya said they are considering absorbing graduates to take up vacant positions, with the strike in its second month as activities in the public hospitals still remain paralyzed.
