Students in Kenyan public universities will stay longer at home after the Ministry of Education ordered postponement of their re-opening day.

This will be the third time the dates have been changed in what is likely to affect those who had planned to complete their programmes on time.

The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) will open on September 11, while University of Nairobi and Rongo University will re-open on September 4 and 7 respectively.

TUK vice-chancellor Francis Aduol has stated that all First Year students will be expected on campus from September 7 for their orientation that will run up to September 9.

“Registration for first year students will be ongoing up to and including September 1,” Aduol said in a statement.

“All members of staff are notified that normal university operations will continue on Monday, August 28,” he added.
