Deputy President William Ruto has said that the government has set aside Sh 49 billion for the allocation of universities this financial year.

The kitty is meant to drive technology, innovation and invention in colleges and universities towards the betterment of vision 2030.

Ruto who was speaking on Thursday at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology during the launching of botanical garden and Kenyan-Made laptop said that Jubilee government will support education fully to enhance and boost education level in Kenya.

“My government is working towards supporting education which is a vital program in the jubilee manifesto in order to eradicate illiteracy in the society,” said the deputy president.

Ruto revealed that the government will establish 60 technical training institutes before the end of this financial year and 100 more before 2017.

The ‘hustler’ added that the country is moving toward digital era and thus Kenya needs competent personnel to accommodate the drastic change in the country.

“Kenya is prepared for industrial revolution which will bring together manufacturing, processing and evolution of new ideas and products in the industry,” Ruto added.

He however hailed the launch of the Taifa laptop which is a computer assemble by the institution adding that the Jubilee government will embrace inventors and innovators especially on the ongoing construction of the Standard Gauge railway.

Samoei Ruto however challenged the students not to lose concentration in their studies and has encouraged more invention from the students promising to erupt their skills and knowledge.
