University and college students who applied for bursary funds in Yatta Sub-county in Machakos County have been informed that the cheques are out and ready for collection anytime.

Speaking in Matuu offices while briefing the press, Yatta constituency Member of Parliament Francis Mwangangi asked the concerned beneficiaries to collect their cheques in Matuu .

“I want to urge the University and college students who applied for the bursaries to come and collect their checks as they are ready. This should happen as soon as possible so that they resume school with the rest,” said Mwangangi.

Mwangangi has further explained that the criteria used to disburse the cheques was fare, and those considered are the students from needy homes. He also stated that the process had cost more than Sh5 million so as to help as many students as possible.

“The Yatta County government has issued funds to 556 college and university students in an exercise that cost a lot of money. The students who are beneficiaries should work hard and we will also be following on their progress in school,” he added

The Member of Parliament called upon the parents of the needy children in the Sub-county in Secondary Schools to prepare well, as soon they would be expected to apply and follow the procedure so as to access the funds.
