A local university has awarded a honorary degree to First lady Mrs Margaret Kenyatta for her wider community approach that has enhanced societal well being and environmental issues.
Kenyatta University today awarded Mrs Margaret Kenyatta with a honorary doctorate degree.
Conferring the prestigious honor to Mrs Margaret Kenyatta at the 37th graduation ceremony at Kenyatta University ,Juja sub-county , Vice-chancellor, Ms Olive Mugenda congratulated Ms Margaret Kenyatta for her tremendous achievements in combating challenges affecting women and children in society.
She said that Ms Margaret Kenyatta's imitative 'Beyond Zero Campaign' has contributed to great to reduction of death among women during labour.
“ Mrs Margaret Kenyatta's contribution towards reduction of deaths among women during labour has been successful”, said Mugenda.
She also said that Ms Margaret Kenyatta has build a meaningful efforts towards reducing new Hiv/Aids infections among children .
Receiving the award Ms Margaret Kenyatta said that she was gratified for her acknowledgment of her effort to improve maternal and child care .
“I appreciate this honor that will encourage me to dedicate my effort in the well being of society”, said Ms Kenyatta.
Mrs Margaret Kenyatta launched the 'Beyond Zero Campaign' on 24 January 2014 to improve maternal and child health care outcomes in the country and seeks to accelerate the implementation of national plan to eliminate new Hiv /Aids infections among babies.
