Hundreds of students residing in the surrounding villages will benefit greatly after the roads are upgraded.

This comes amidst immense criticism to both the county government and the institution over the deteriorating condition of feeder roads in the area. This has rendered the place impassable especially during rainy seasons.

According to most students, the terrible state of roads network has precipitated many of them to shun early morning and late evening lectures.

“This initiative is long overdue. The poor condition has jeopardised our studies especially early morning classes. We would like to appreciate the student leadership and the county government for listening to our woes,” said John Otao, a commerce student.

The initiative launched on Thursday will enhance normalcy in learning activities since it was the prime manifesto of most of the recently elected Secretariat led by Rodgers Nyanumba.

The delegation from the county government hailed the student fraternity for embracing dialogue to tackle challenges facing students.

“We are excited with the way you have handled the issues with sobriety and maturity. The county government will continue working closely with this promising leadership,” said Eng. John Oyaro.

Assistant Dean of students Francis Monari hailed the new student leadership for leading by example and the county government for its effort to ensure smooth running of the institution.

“This is a magnificent step towards improving student welfare and the institution will always support such moves. I urge you to continue supporting us,” he said.

The biggest beneficiaries are students living around Manoti Hostels, Vichmas Hostels and the impassable route from Green Light to Riverside Hostels. This construction is expected to take two months.
