Moi University has confirmed the return of Vice Chancellor Prof Richard Mibey, who was said to have taken leave after serving his 10-year term as the VC.
Prof Mibey is the fifth VC to lead the institution since taking over in 2006.
Confirming the move on Tuesday, the University through its official website stated that Prof Mibey will return at the helm of managing the institution.
"Prof Richard K Mibey Vice Chancellor of Moi University has been recalled by Moi University Council to resume duties with immediate effect," read part of the communication.
This however comes with much surprise, following a series of interviews conducted by the institution on possible replacements for Prof Mibey last month.
Moi University's dean school of medicine Prof Fabian Esamai was appointed by the University management as an interim VC of the institution.
Prof Mibey’s retirement was due in September 2016.
