A senior development and leadership lecturer at Kisii University has called on all elected leaders in Gusii region to work together for the sake of development.
Speaking during an interview at the university on Friday, Dr Jasper Mong’are expressed fears that persistent wrangles and supremacy wars among leaders in the region could undermine the success of devolution, which should not be the case.
“All I know is that devolution has turned around the lives of most citizens and Kenyans should celebrate because since the inception of the new system of governance all regions have got opportunities to develop,” he added.
He challenged MPs from Nyamira and Kisii counties to support initiatives being put in place by county governments and desist from engaging in supremacy wars.
Dr Monga’re urged leaders to ditch their selfish interests and develop the region which he said has been lagging behind in terms of development.
He added that elected leaders will be judged by their performance and not who made the loudest noise by the end of their term.
