The cast that finished second overall in the universities category and subsequently performed at State House for the then President Mwai Kibaki, left on Friday for the festivals at Menengai high school in spirits high.

Mr Monari said the cast had practised for the editions for almost a month and was therefore prepared to go for the overall best position.

“The drama team is now ready to perform for the nation. They have wonderful pieces that reflect contemporary issues in our society and that are why I am sure of the excellent performance,” he said.

“Our aim this time is to finish at the top and we are ready for it. We have invested in the team and I think this would be our time to challenge heavy weights like Kenyatta University,” he added.

Earlier on, the drama team had received well wishes from the top management, led by Prof Maurice Amutabi and his counterpart Prof Phillip Owino, who had dished out Sh10,000 cash as a motivation to the team.

‘My chicken’ choral verse seems to be the best episode since it narrates rampant corruption in various departments in the public sector.

The team failed to perform in last year’s festivals following a riot that had erupted after disagreements between the management and the student fraternity over implementation of attachment fee policy.
