The tour will beginning in early November this year and will involve ecotourism, business, educational, and research opportunities surveys and cultural exchange activities.

The team is made up of twenty members of the club.

According to Prof Hezron Mwambingu of the Horticultural department, the travel will be sponsored partly by the club, the university management, the Chinese Embassy and the Confucius Institute based at the university.

“We have travelled to several countries in Africa including; Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Africa, Madagascar and recently Sudan, but this one is the first of its kind outside the continent,” said Prof Mwambingu.

He added that the tour will be a milestone for the university and government’s spirited cooperation with the Republic of China in many aspects. It is also for the club’s objectives that include exploring international relations and opportunities for its members.

Prof Mwambingu said since the club was started in 2006, several of its members have landed jobs and further studies among other opportunities outside the country.
