The ban comes after Maseno University students beat up a match official after their football team lost to Kenyatta University.

The students claimed that the referee was biased, a factor that made them angry hence confronting him after the game.

Lecturers from the institution have strongly condemned the act and said that those involved in the brawl will be brought to book and face discplinary actions for tarnishing Maseno's reputation.

The lecturers also blasted KUSA for the harsh ban imposed on the institution adding that it should be reduced as it will adversely affect sportsmen and women from the institution.

Speaking to a Hivisasa writer in Maseno University, a lecturer from the institution who spoke on condition of anonymity said: "It is very unfortunate our students assaulted a match official.

"We condemn the act in the loudest voice ever. The students who participated in the brawl will be brought to book and face disciplinary actions."
