A tug of war between two Jomo Kenyatta of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) professors has reached the Industrial Court.
Prof Francis Njeruh on Wednesday moved to court and obtained orders restraining Prof Mabel Imbuga from making any replacement to the position as the Deputy VC of the institution until the matter is resolved in the court of law.
The applicant through his lawyer, Dr Kamau Kuria, told the court that the VC has already made arrangements for replacement and Professors Bernard Otoki and Victoria Wambui have already been appointed as Finance and Administration officers respectively.
In the case before Justice Matthews Nderi Nduma, Prof Njeruh accused Vice Chancellor Prof Mabel Imbuga of dismissing him from the institution.
According to the aggrieved professor, the two applicants have taken the position which the court had earlier issued orders barring his replacement.
“The court had ordered the VC not to appoint any new staff in the position but she has gone ahead and defied the court order by appointing two professors in the position,” he said.
He said that the VC, whom the court found being in contempt and slapped her with a Sh 500,000 fine has still not obeyed the orders at any given time.
“The fine was not enough and I think the court should be more vigilant on the VC regarding the issue,” he lamented.
Justice Nduma directed the applicant to amend his application to include the two professors and the matter be heard inter-parties on February 18.
