Kisii University College Scouts team has vowed to produce a master class performance in Africa scouting competition to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa in April this year.
This comes after a series of convincing performances in regional scouting competition that was held in Kigali-Rwanda in December last year where they emerged the best ahead of Tanzania’s University of Dar es Salaam.
Speaking on Monday during the preparations ahead of the competitions, Chairman Eddy Murumba said that he was optimistic of magnificent performance in the continental championships.
“The team is much prepared for South Africa show-down. We believe the University has the best scouting crew not only in the country, but also in the entire world and that will be proved soon,” promised Chairman Murumba.
He asked the national government to chip in and support the movement since it represented the entire county and not only Kisii University College as perceived by many.
“The recent incredible performance in Rwanda will be emulated when we represent the country in Jo’berg. Although it will be hard to face established scouting movements in the continent, I am quite sure we will bring something home good,” said Murumba.
He claimed that they have not really been supported by the nation in such activities since, according to him, the State believes they are representing their Institution only.
Saying that we compete as Kisii University College is not correct since we carry the flag of the country whenever we go out to compete, that is enough proof that we represent Kenya in one way or another. So in short we are going to sell our country abroad,” added Murumba.
The Kisii scouting movement represented the country in the regional competition last year and emerged the best hence selected to represent East and Central Africa.
