Area police boss Duncan Nguthu said officers found the body of the 23-year-old man in a room after receiving information from the parents.

He said police found the body of the deceased hanging on the roof and that he used a piece of blanket to hang himself.

The parents of the deceased told journalists that the student had psychological and mental problems and that he spent most of the time on Sunday locked up in his room.

“We have been told that the deceased has psychological problems but we have launched our own investigations,” said Nguthu.

The police boss said that the deceased left a note to his parents and friend telling them that he was tired of living and that it will be better if he is dead.

Nguthu added that the deceased could have suffered frustrations before deciding to terminate his life. The police asked parents in the sub-county to engage with their children in order to curb such cases.

The body of the deceased was taken to Rift Provincial General hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
