It was an emotional send-off for slain Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge at their home in Longonot, Naivasha.
The burial was jammed by university students who Njoroge led, residents and Nakuru leaders led by Governor Lee Kinyanjui.Leaders gave Interior CS Fred Matiang’I an ultimatum to bring the officer who killed the charismatic varsity leader.Gilgil MP Martha Wangari wondered why Matiang’I and Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet have not taken any action.“We as parliament shall summon the CS and the IG for this heinous murder that has left a family in pain and the university management should also be investigated,” Wangari said.Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said he will institute a private prosecution of the officer if no action is taken."It is painful for a parent to send a child to school in the hope of rising in the society only for the family to receive the body in a coffin and yet the child was not sick,” Kinyanjui said.
