A Maseno University female student was locked up in a hotel in Kisumu after her alleged boyfriend disappeared leaving her a bill of Sh18,000.
According to the student, she was introduced to the man through a friend she studies with, and upon phone communication, they decided to meet in Kisumu.
The student narrated that they took drinks and chatted with the man who seemed jovial and in a good mood, adding that after hours of drinking among the most expensive drinks, the waiter slapped them with a bill of Sh18,000.
She noted that the middle-aged man excused himself to visit the latrine after the bill was issued, but never returned.
After around 20 minutes of waiting, she suspected something was not right and told one of the waiters to check out. The waiter confirmed her worst fears, that she had been abandoned at her hour of need.
The management upon learning this where forced to hold her back.They later released the student but held her students ID and National ID giving her 2 weeks to clear the bill or face the school's disciplinary panel.
