Speaking in an interview on Monday at the institution, a number of the students said they were not aware of the registration centres.

Some said they did not get ample time to take part in the exercise.

"I have many lectures everyday in which I get tired at the end of the day. The deadline should have been extended so that we register during holidays," said Lydiah Moraa, a student.

Others said they were not comfortable registering in Kisii County but wanted to do so in their respective home counties.

IEBC officers earlier set up mobile voter registration centres in the university and its campuses but recorded low statistics than expected.

"Some students think if they register from here they will be forced to vote from the same place. They can change their stations to respective counties if they wish," an IEBC officer said.

Students now want the exercise extended or be recommenced during holidays.
