The students requested the administration to be lenient and allow them sit the exams as their bursaries had been delayed due to the political instability in the country.

Speaking to a Hivisasa writer in Maseno University, Mercy Jepkirui a 3rd year student taking Communication and Media technology noted that her bursary money was yet to be sent by her sponsors.

"We kindly ask the administration to allow us sit the exams as some of us are needy students and rely on the bursary funds to complete our fees.

"The funds have not yet been released in most of the constituencies and counties, though the relevant authorities have communicated that once the funds arrive they will be disbursed in students accounts respectively. The administration should allow us sit exams as a good number of students who rely on bursaries risk missing exams," she stated.

The University's Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of academics Dr Mary Kipsat  while speaking to  hivisasa writer, however noted that no student will be allowed to sit the exam with uncleared fees.

"The students were given much time to prepare for the exams by reading and making sure that their fee issues are sorted out. The exams shall be conducted under the University's law and regulations that clearly state that no student should sit exams without completion of fees," she said.
