Machakos University Students have decried the failure of their lecturers to resume work saying it is affecting their academics.
This is after a labor court in Nairobi directed the dons to call off their strike on Friday last week.
Led by their student’s president Steve Kibe, the students threatened to stage demonstrations should the lecturers fail to honor the court directive.
The angry students wondered why the lecturers had developed a culture of impunity citing that, “our academic future hangs in balance should the lecturers further delay resuming work.”
They vowed to rally other students across the country to agitate for their rights.
A spot check by this writer in the lecture halls revealed that students were studying by themselves while others were loitering in the University's corridors.
The university had issued a notice to all students that classes were to begin today morning.
Most of the students who traveled from all corners of the country narrated the ordeal and inconveniences caused owing to the fact that transport has been hectic in many roads in the country.
The University's Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, innovation, and linkages Prof.Peter Nyamuhanga Mwita urged his colleagues to resume work since they were participating in an illegal strike and unprotected strike.
