The incident caused commotion along the Highway as traffic jam was curtailed for more than 30 minutes making some motorists to detour for other routes.

A student who is a third year was hit by a matatu while crossing the road after attending class at Downtown Campus.

Traffic police were forced to save the situation after the University students became unruly and started to be violent against motorists operating along the Highway.

Businesses closed down up to the time traffic police arrived to salvage business operators from the rowdy students.

“We will only be addressed by the county governor concerning the perennial accidents along this Highway,” heckled the angry students.

The University Assistant Dean Bro. Francis Kirongo urged the students never to take actions against those who were not directly involved in the fracas.

“It is unfair for students to halt business operation in the town and those businessmen in town are very innocent,” said Bro. Kirongo.

Students blamed the county government for not putting up bumps along the highway to reduce speed at which motorists drive.

“This is not the first time an accident occurs along this road, we are sending a warning to Kisii County government to take an immediate action, or else we put bumps for them, which motorists will not like at all,” threatened the student.
