Kisii University students have been warned against posting malicious statements on social media and that those found doing so will be punished.
Bro Francis Kerongo, the assistant Dean of Students at the university said on Thursday that the skirmishes that occurred during students elections on November 6 were as a result of incitement on social media.
"There were messages of malice all over social media, we will not tolerate that. Hooligans in the name of 'comrades' who want to ruin the peace in our university will be dealt with accordingly," he said.
Kerongo added that such statements will lead to severe punishment.
"The anti-terrorism police will be hanging around us because we believe that is a matter of terrorism. It shall therefore go unpunished.
Bro Francis asked the students to respect one another for the sake of unity.
