“The process known as Vice-Chancellor’s and Dean’s list of Honor will have a clear criteria of selection of best performing students to be included in the list. Those who appear in either of the lists will be awarded with certificates of Academic Excellence in order to motivate them to perform even better,” said Mwonya.

She added that students who will be awarded with the certificates of academic excellence will also qualify as beneficiaries to other privileges, including bursary awards, representing the university in local and international students’ forums and competitions and employment by the university upon completion of their university education.

The Deputy vice-Chancellor added that the idea of coming up with the academic award scheme was born out of the need to inspire academic excellence among both students and members of the teaching staff of the university.
