Thika West Deputy County Commissioner Mr Jeremiah Gicheru has warned that vehicles found carrying drugs will be seized by the government and legal action taken against owners.
Gicheru warned motorists that their vehicles would be impounded if found carrying the outlawed substances. He urged people to be vigilant when carrying luggage whose content they do not know from strangers.
He said it will be unfortunate for whoever would be found in possession of drugs as the law will take its course.
“You better be warned before you are found on the wrong side of the law. If you are found carrying drugs or illicit alcohol, we will deal with you and impound the vehicle used,” he said.
He was speaking in Thika town on Thursday, when he flagged off an anti-drug campaign convoy. The campaign aims at sensitising Thika youths and especially students on dangers of drug abuse.
A big number of youth has come out to help in disseminating messages about the far reaching effects of drug use.
The Nacada chairman John Mututho is expected to address a workshop being held at Cravers Hotel in Thika town over the weekend.
