It is alleged the man sold the lady the charcoal only to come and steal it later again.

Maggie Otieno a mother of five said she heard someone opening her store at night and when she peeped through the door, she realized that her charcoal store was open.

When she approached the store she realized two sacks of charcoal where missing with one already drawn outside the store.

She went back inside the house and after waiting for approximately 15 minutes, the said man appeared again.

“At first he pretended like he was passing by and walked passed the house," Otieno said.

"After like another two minutes he came back. He came to the door to confirm if it was locked. We were standing and peeping at the door at that time with two of my sons,” says the lady.

“Luckily my house has another rear door and we rushed from behind and found him loading the sack of charcoal on his back.”

“We were forced to wrestle him to the ground as I called for help. My neighbours came to our aid and we were able to capture him. I was shocked to recognize the man was my vendor.”

Locals rained on the man who had no help of the police.

He then led the locals to where he hid the other two sacks he had already carried away.

The events occurred at around 2am.

“Such cases are very common in Manyatta and we call upon the county to increase security. We have good lighting system but without police patrol then it amounts to nothing,” said one John Owoko.
