The Judicial Service Commission is set to announce the Chief Justice nominee from the 11 candidates who appeared before the panel.

JSC acting chairperson Margaret Kobia has revealed that the commission will be retreating to a secret location where the selection will take place.

"This week, JSC will be retreating to do an analysis of the candidates. I have already seen some speculations that we are going to Naivasha but it can be anywhere else," said Kobia.

The law requires the commission to nominate the candidate within seven working days.

The nominee will be presented to President Uhuru for consideration .

"At the end of interviews, JSC has seven days to analyze, arrange the candidates in terms of merit and vote on the most suitable ones. This cannot go beyond Friday ," Kobia is quoted by Nation.

After presenting the president with the nominee, he will be forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting before a formal appointment.

However, Members of Parliament can choose to reject the nominee presented by the president.

The candidates who will be seeking to replace Willy Mutunga include Alnshir Visram, Amraphael Msagha Mbogholi, Nzamba Kitonga, Roselyne Nambuye, Smokin Wanjala, Aaron Ringera, Daniel Wambura, Jacton Ojwang,Lucy Wanja, David Maraga and Makau Mutua.
