Parents have raised concerns over viewership of vernacular T V by school children in Molo sub-county.
Speaking on Monday during an open forum, parents raised concerns over the issue.
"It's odd to argue with my son on where to watch news. He is so adamant to watch the Gikuyu stations. I feel it's possible to ruin his future since he is a class seven pupil," Anastasia Nyokabi said.
Jennifer Muraguri, a mother of two, said she always find her children enjoying watching vernacular stations than English or Swahili ones.
"Every time I allow my sons to watch on their own, they tune on vernacular TV. It's a bad habit I discourage them since they are still school children," she added.
"Syllabus is in English. I read somewhere that language affects thoughts hence the best for school children is to think in languages that they'll be examined using. Vernacular is for cultural reasons but not for school children," another parent said.
"It's a difficult time for parenting but we have to be strict and keen on what children watch," he said.
