The death of Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello has sent the media fraternity, where the late Senator made his name, into mourning.
Oluoch, a veteran journalist, had been in the media industry for decades beginning with state-owned KBC before moving to Royal Media's Radio Ramogi, a vernacular radio station where his fan base grew.
While paying his tributes to BOO as he was popularly known to his fans, veteran journalist Issac Ongiri recounted the former Senator's long journey to political greatness.
"He dominated the airwaves since 1990s we grew up listening to him...His entry to politics last year was well received by a huge fan base he had created while at work... His victory which came after a battle against heavily funded barons was easy despite the financial challenges he had faced," posted the former Standard Group and Nation Media Group political writer on his Facebook page.
According to Ongiri, a veteran in the media industry, in the run to last year's election, Oluoch had called him asking for advice in his bid for Migori Senatorial seat, where he advised him not to chicken out of the race. And the former Ramogi FM man went on to win the seat convincingly.
