Moi University vice chancellor has said that all the Garissa University students will be admitted to Moi University without any conditions and are supposed to report to the campus on May 20.
This comes after the Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago condemned the planned transfer of the students saying that some of them might have been involved in the planning of the terror attack hence they needed to be vetted.
Speaking from his office on Wednesday, Prof Richard Mibei said that the more than 700 students will be allocated separate lectures until they catch up with other students.
"We have already put up enough measures to ensure that they students from Garissa University get a smooth learning and they continue from where they left. We have also discussed with the university council and the senate together with the management to give all the assistance that the students will require," said Mibei.
Mibei said that the vetting of the students will not be necessary since the students have already suffered a lot and as the management of the university, they are obliged to give the much needed support to ensure that they forget what happened and continue with their studies.
"They are our children and most of them witnessed something that is very hard to forget. We should ensure that we give them the support and try to assist them to forget what happened. By starting to vet them, we will be reminding them of the past and this may end up hurting them,” said Mibei.
