According to Onderi, this will curb the fire incidents and strikes in schools since no students from schools which have been affected by the fire will be allowed to move to another school.

“This directive which was made by the CS is going to curb the incidents which have been seen in our schools,” Onderi said.

Nyamache sub-county Director of Education George Okeyo also said that the burning of the schools has been ignited by students who were transferred from one school to another without being vetted.

Speaking at Naikuro PAG mixed school on Wednesday where one dorm was razed by fire suspected to be caused by students. Mr Okeyo said that according to the investigation they have done the students who are behind the incidents did not join the school from Form one.

“Many schools which have been affected from our investigations indicates that most suspected students did not join the school right from Form one, hence vetting should be done before any student is admitted to any schools," added Okeyo.

The Cabinet secretary for Education gave the directives on Monday after 7 Dorms of Iterio boys were razed down by fire by suspected students.
