The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has tentatively halted the vetting process of traffic police officers in Western Kenya for an unspecified period.
Speaking at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu on Friday, NPSC Chairman Johnston Kavuludi said they had taken the break to enable their Chief Executive Officer wind up the financial year.
“The year has ended and our CEO must do certain things in Nairobi. We will take a break to allow him perform that duty,” he said.
Kavuludi said that of the 201 and 174 candidates for vetting in Nyanza and Western regions respectively, they had completed the vetting of Nyanza officers while only 18 officers from Western region were vetted.
“I am happy to report that we have interviewed all the officers in Nyanza, we had to halt the process at a time we had started vetting Western region officers, we will be back,” he said.
Kavuludi also disclosed that the remaining officers would be vetted in due course, and that the files of those already vetted were ready for evaluation and determination.
“In the mean time, the Commission will continue with evaluating the officers files and give recommendations,” he said.
