The NGO, Women Fighting Violent Extremism (WAVE) said that though they fully support the government's move to combat terrorism in the country, they do not condone the loss of innocent lives.

Speaking at the Tononoka Social Hall in Mombasa during a women forum on Saturday, Coast Education Centre Executive Officer Halima Rakesh said that many women have been widowed and children orphaned, leaving them without anyone to take care of them.

"We do not object the government anti-terror operations at the Coast and other parts of the country, but the fight should not make us lose innocent souls," Halima said.

She added that the main objective of the Network is to ensure that those women that lose there loved ones are taken care of properly.

"We have dedicated ourselves in helping these women forget the past and secure a future. They should not be left to suffer since they are undergoing psychological torture," she added.

The NGO said that Mombasa and Kwale Counties are the most affected areas.
