The victims have been in camps every time the clashes flare up with the latest one being along Kisumu-Nandi border.

Speaking in Kisumu, Nyong’o said that the people affected in Kopere and others that have come before have benefited from few things given to them by well-wishers.

The recent clashes along the Kisumu-Nandi border saw two people killed and over 1,000 being displaced forcing them to camp at Achego African Inland Church in Muhoroni.

The internally displaced people were mostly women from Soghor village, Soghor Squatters, Onenonam and Odio Wangni which border Nandi County.

He said most of the victims were left without shelter and a majority of them could not feed themselves since their farms were brought down by fire.

“This people should be compensated so that they find a way of taking their children back to school. Most lost their property and lives yet all they get are blankets and food stuff,” said Mr Nyong’o.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kisumu County Chairman Professor Ayiecho Olweny said in the past the two communities were very peaceful and the clashes being witnessed were politically instigated.

“These clashes usually come when elections are near which really creates suspicion. They are being used as a scare tactic,” said Professor Olweny.
