Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has won a Best of Africa role model award.

Wanyama collected his award alongside model Tidiou M'Baye at the Rosewood Hotel.

"I am honoured to win an award for my work helping disadvantaged children in Kenya. It is important to help those less fortunate than ourselves,” said the 25-year-old on Twitter.

Previous winners of the award are; Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba, Odion Ighalo and Alex Song.

Wanyama joined Tottenham from Southampton last summer and has established himself as a key member of Mauricio Pochettino's side to become one of the best African players in the English Premier League (EPL).
